The following comment is from an online course I am taking regarding blind spots. It seemed appropriate to share it here as well. What do you think about the topic?
True humility lies not in abasing ourselves, but in seeing ourselves as God sees us. Our Father has the only accurate view of who and what we are—not society, not your coworkers or classmates, not even your family or yourself. You must learn to see yourself the way God sees you. This requires drawing close to Him through regular time in prayer and reading His Word and then choosing to take his opinion as authoritative. Consider the fruits of your life and the positive impact you have on others in various ways.
Romans 12:3 says not to think too highly of ourselves, but often our problem is the opposite: that we think too lowly of ourselves. But that solution is also found here: “Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.” (Romans 12:3b, NLT)
You are a child of God, made in His image. The Father has shown you his unconditional love through Jesus Christ and blessed you with divine gifts of His Spirit to be used for His glory. Have faith in what God has given you and allow the Holy Spirit to use you to accomplish his purposes in your life.
